Missing teeth can be replaced with bridges, implants or even dentures.
Bridges can either be supported by the surrounding teeth or by implants. Bridges are relatively quick and inexpensive when retained by natural teeth. The disadvantage is that the teeth that are used to support the bridge may need to be trimmed right down to make room for the bridge.
Implants are the modern way to replace missing teeth. An implant is placed in bone where the tooth root would have originally been. When it has fused to the bone it can be restored with individual crowns, or bridges or can be used to retain dentures. However they form a very solid platform to support further restoration and when used to replace a single missing tooth, or multiple teeth with separate crowns you will be able to floss between them like natural teeth.
