Root canal therapy

Root canal therapy is indicated when the center of the tooth containing the pulp chamber, which contains the nerves and blood supply of the tooth, is infected or irreversibly inflamed.

Dental bridges

Bridges can either be supported by the surrounding teeth or by implants. Bridges are relatively quick and inexpensive when retained by natural teeth. The disadvantage is that the teeth that are used to support the bridge may need to be trimmed right down to make room for the bridge.

Dental implants

Implants are the modern way to replace missing teeth. An implant is placed in bone where the tooth root would have originally been. When it has fused to the bone it can be restored with individual crowns, or bridges or can be used to retain dentures. However they form a very solid platform to support further restoration and when used to replace a single missing tooth, or multiple teeth with separate crowns you will be able to floss between them like natural teeth.

Pediatric dentistry

Although they don’t last as long as permanent teeth, your child’s first teeth play an important role in his development. While they’re in place, these primary teeth help your little one speak, smile and chew properly. They also hold space in the jaw for permanent teeth. If a child loses a tooth too early (due to damage or decay) nearby teeth may encroach on that space, which can result in crooked or misplaced permanent teeth. Also, your child’s general health is affected by the oral health of the teeth and gums.

Tooth extractions

Tooth extraction is the last resort. We will try to prevent tooth loss and will advise you on how to avoid this in the future. However if you need an extraction we do them painlessly! Tooth extractions may be performed when a tooth is broken, damaged or diseased, or if the tooth results in overcrowding in the mouth.  Teeth may also be extracted as a precursor to other dental procedures, such as dental implants, bridges or dentures.

Impacted teeth

Impactions can be caused by improper positioning of the developing tooth bud. This can cause the tooth to fail to erupt into the mouth. Impactions can also be caused by early loss of primary teeth or crowding of teeth. Wisdom teeth are the most commonly impacted teeth.

Periodontal disease results in inflammation that can damage the gums, as well as the nearby teeth and bone supporting the teeth.  This can result in tooth loss, as well as problems relating to the underlying bone structure.  Chronic inflammation can also lead to additional, serious health problems.
