Composite fillings are used to repair teeth that experience decay, cavities, or that are cracked or broken. The decayed or damaged portion of the tooth is removed and then the area is prepared for the tooth filling. The filling bonds to the tooth, strengthening the existing tooth and preventing further decay or deterioration. Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.
At Studiodent dental office we have the experience and expertise to bring together the various advanced dental disciplines required create white fillings that not only are they more natural and esthetic, they also bond to the tooth, which creates a great seal that lessens the chance of leakage and fracture in the future. We use our expertise in color matching and utilize the highest quality composite resin material today, and we can blend shades to create a color nearly identical to that of the actual tooth. Composite fillings are now the restoration of choice in restoring minimally invasive tooth restorations.
How are Composite Fillings placed?
The filling procedure can be completed in just one dental visit. Following preparation, the dentist places the composite in layers, typically using a light specialized to harden each layer. When the process is finished, the dentist will shape the composite to fit the tooth. The dentist then polishes the composite to prevent staining and early wear.
